Killdeer Mountain man wants drilling case suspended
A man who lives in the Killdeer Mountains says State Mineral Resources Director Lynn Helms is biased and a drilling case to permit eight more wells to be drilled in an area for archaeological study should be reconsidered.
Loren Jepson filed his request Thursday, asking the state Industrial Commission to suspend the permit it approved two weeks ago for Hess Corp. to add the wells into an area where four already have been approved.
Jepson said in his petition that Helms presented biased and skewed information and that the director’s job shouldn’t consist of making Hess’ case to the commission.
Helms did not return a call requesting comment for this story.
